1.37. Cooling system

At factory the system refuels the cooling liquid which is intended for long-term work and not demanding replacement. The liquid consists of water with 40 of %-s' (for engine V8 – 50 %) a share of additive G 011 A8C. The given mix not only provides necessary frost resistance to–25 With (for engine V8–35 ), but also protects first of all легкосплавные components from corrosion. Besides, adjournment of a scum is prevented and considerably the liquid boiling point raises. Therefore even in a warm season or in the countries with a warm climate it is impossible to reduce concentration of a mix water addition. The additive share should be not less than 40 % (for engine V8 – 50 %).

In need of higher degree of frost resistance it is possible to increase share G 011 A8C, but only to 60 % or 54 % for engine V8 (frost resistance approximately to–40 ) as the further escalating of concentration conducts to decrease in frost resistance and deterioration of cooling effect. Exported to the countries with a frigid climate (for example, Sweden, Norway, Finland) cars already at factory refuel antifreeze at the rate on work at temperature to–35 With. As the additive to a cooling liquid apply (with instruction observance on packing) only G 011 A8C or an additive under specification TL-WV 774 C. The given additives can be received at enterprise Audi. Other additives to a liquid can essentially break its properties and first of all effect коррозийной protection. Resulting коррозийные damages can cause leak of a cooling liquid and to lead subsequently to serious damages of the engine.

The control of level of a cooling liquid

At falling of level of a liquid the control lamp lights up. Despite it, it is recommended to be checked from time to time. Authentically to check up level it is possible only at the idle engine.

At the cold engine level should be between labels "max" and "min" a tank; on heated-up level can exceed slightly a label "max".

Leak of a cooling liquid

Leak of a cooling liquid allows to assume first of all presence not density in cooling system. In this case urgently check up system at enterprise Audi. It is impossible to be limited only доливанием liquids. At not broken tightness leak can arise only in that case when the cooling liquid begins to boil because of an overheat and replacement from cooling system.

At first muffle the engine and allow to it to cool down. Then cover a stopper of a broad tank with a fabric and cautiously turn away it on one turn to the left, having pitted thus superfluous pressure. After that completely turn off a stopper.

The cooling system is under pressure!

At considerable leak of a cooling liquid, it, in order to avoid engine damages, it is possible to add only after it will cool down.

Do not pour a liquid above a label "max": surplus of a liquid at its heating is superseded from system through a safety valve in a stopper of a broad tank!

The fan of system of cooling

On 4 and 6-cylinder engines the fan works from the electric drive operated a thermoswitch depending on temperature of the cooling liquid.

On 5 and 8-cylinder engines the fan drive is carried out through ridge клиновой a belt from the engine. The fan is equipped вязкостной муфтой, regulating frequency of its rotation depending on temperature. Additional электроприводной the fan with step regulation of turns is automatically connected in the course of engine work, depending on temperature of a cooling liquid.
